Wired magazine is apparently celebrating the San Diego Comicon with a gallery of classic comic covers. Some of my favorites:
(My question – and I know I’m not SUPPOSED to ask this – is what exactly is that robot going to do with the sexy damsel in distress once he gets her back to whatever evil sci-fi fortress he’s headed for?)
(This is just fantastic – another example of EC comics kicking everything else on the stands in the face.)
(Edit: Apparently the Green Hornet movie, scripted by Kevin Smith, has falled through. Which is a shame, because it had to be a better idea than Alec Baldwin in The Shadow.
(Captain Marvel, one of the worst comic concepts of all time and one which they KEEP trying to make work, even today, had a number of kid sidekicks as part of the “Marvel Family.” This kid, Captain Marvel Jr., may be the one I most want to kick in the teeth. I have to assume he’s riding this bomb to the ground Dr. Strangelove-style to kill some Nazis or offensive Asian stereotypes.)
And THIS is my favorite picture (so far) on the scene at the Nerd Prom:
(The Monarch and Dr. Girlfriend of Adult Swim’s The Venture Bros.)

I love Dr. Girlfriend SO much. Seriously. Spin-off, that’s all I’m sayin’.

The creepy love triangle thing they have going with her in the series right now is…well, creepy.
But also funny.

Oh, DAMN! THAT’S what we should have been for Halloween! Those people have such perfect costumes though. There’s no way we could top that. Damn, damn, damn.
