    Dear Joe:

    We are sorry to hear about your incident at the campaign rally and personally I find it to be very very disturbing as traditionally reporters have largely been left out of physical confrontations.

    Also, I find it strange that people who talk about defending freedom were loathe to see you practice it. It’s a somewhat sad state of affairs.

    On a newspaper note, our newsroom received the pool report from Mark Binker about Palin’s visit, but we did not see anything in there about the attack. Why was that not included? No reflection on Mark as we think highly of his work or the News & Record, but I think our newspapers would have run that on the front page and beat it like a cheap drum if one of our reporters were assaulted.

    Also, can you email us a photo that we can use that is at least 400 pixels wide? We would like to link to your account of the attack when we update our site later today as part of our coverage on our new Greensboro site, which is officially launching (sometime) today or tomorrow.

    It’s no problem if you don’t want to include a photo, but I think the public in Greensboro should be aware of the incident.
